One chart to rule them all.
Remember the original rationale last year for lockdowns was to save the hospitals from being overrun. Here's the latest hospitalization numbers for COVID across the country, per 100,000 citizens.
Now keep in mind according to CDC, only 3.4% of ER visits in America right now are CLI (Covid-like illness). And the highest it has ever been is 4.3%. SOURCE: https://covid.cdc.gov/covid-data-tracker/#ed-visits
So that perspective is important when you look at this chart, because it means except for a few hot spots, during the course of this pandemic we have NEVER systemically threatened our hospital system nationwide and we are not doing so now.
In fact, nationwide hospital admissions in 2020 were actually 8.5% LOWER than what was forecasted at the beginning of year. SOURCE: https://www.kff.org/health-costs/issue-brief/trends-in-overall-and-non-covid-19-hospital-admissions/
Now, with that perspective in mind, this chart takes us state-by-state to show us how each ranks among one another, as well as the national average. My home state of Iowa was one of the first to lift all restrictions, and look where it ranks.
Florida, with the second-largest elderly population in America, is above the national average but still way over-performing Fauci and the media's beloved New York. Michigan, which had one of the worst lockdowns in the country, is the worst in the country right now. And given these paltry numbers, why is California still so locked down?
Of course, with only 3.4% of ER visits for COVID, I would argue nowhere should be locked down. ... See more
